Filming a community or faith event with care

Your event belongs to a community, and you want it filmed with care.

Share your date and area, and we will suggest coverage and confirm what is possible.

In short

  • The organiser or community decides what may be filmed. We follow.
  • Ask who must approve how the community and its customs are shown.
  • Agree beforehand where the crew may stand and move, especially in prayer or ritual areas.
  • Reports to donors need film that shows what happened, without overstating results.

Community and faith events are about people being together. Good video follows the programme, respects the occasion and shows participants with care.

What principles apply to every event?

  1. The community decides. The organiser, leaders or committee tell us what may be recorded.
  2. Access first. Agree where the crew can stand and move before the day.
  3. Dignity. Some people or moments should stay off camera or out of public posts.

The community event videography service describes how we work.

A short call with the organiser or a community elder, before the quote, usually settles most questions. Ask who will be present on the day, who can explain the customs to our crew, and which moments should be left unfilmed. Write those answers into the brief so everyone works from the same page.

Festive and cultural gatherings

Each occasion has its own priorities. Choose the nearest:

Civic and association events

For meetings and public discussions, the main question is what stays restricted. See residents’ association meetings and AGMs and civic forums. Moving events are covered in processions and moving events.

Nonprofit and charity work

Charity dinners, volunteer days and donor reports each need different footage. Start with charity dinners and fundraising and event video for donor and stakeholder reporting. Where people may be vulnerable, read planning video involving people in vulnerable circumstances first.

Tell us the occasion, who attends and what may or may not be filmed. We will plan around your programme and confirm what we can cover for your date.

Questions people ask

Can you film inside a place of worship?
That depends on the community and its leaders. We ask who gives permission, which parts may be recorded and where the crew may stand, then plan around those answers.
How do you avoid disturbing prayer or a meal?
We agree positions, timing and crew size with you beforehand and follow your programme. Parts you want left unfilmed stay unfilmed.
Can the film be used for donors or reports?
Yes, as a record of what happened. Claims about impact need separate evidence. We can plan the moments that support your report.
Do you cover festivals like Hari Raya, Deepavali or Gawai?
We film community events across Malaysia. Tell us how your community celebrates and who can explain it, and we will confirm what we can arrange.
