What a full ceremony or speech recording includes

You want the whole ceremony or speech kept, and you want to know exactly what whole means.

Share your date and area, and we will suggest coverage and confirm what is possible.

In short

  • Full means the content runs in order, from start to end, without story editing.
  • Camera switching and sound balancing are normal. Cutting out the content is not.
  • Agree where it starts and ends, and what is left out, before the day.
  • Private, sensitive or off-stage moments can be excluded by agreement.

A full ceremony or speech recording keeps the content complete and in order, from the agreed start to the agreed end. It can use more than one camera and balanced sound. It does not shorten, reorder or tell a story with the content.

What does “full” mean?

It means nothing in the programme is removed to save time. The recording follows what happened, in the order it happened. It is meant as a faithful record, not an entertaining film.

If you want a short, shareable film as well, that is a different output. Our guide to highlight film, full recording and raw footage explains how they differ.

What can be edited in a full recording?

Some editing is normal and some is not. Agree which is which before the day.

Usually part of a full recording Not part of a full recording
Switching between camera angles Shortening speeches or removing sections
Balancing and cleaning the sound Moving content out of order
Basic colour matching between cameras Adding music over the speech
A title or lower-third to name the speaker, if asked Story edits, slow motion or effects

If you need a single fixed camera view with no switching, say so. It can be simpler and cleaner for a formal record, though you lose the chance to cut to a reaction. The quote will say which approach is used.

Where does it start and end?

Choose two moments and write them down. For example: from the first announcement once guests are seated, to the final blessing. Or: from the chairperson’s opening words to the last vote result.

Say what happens before and after. Do you want the arrivals, a few seconds of the room before it begins, the closing remarks? These can be a separate short item.

What is left out, and who decides?

Some segments are better left out. Agree these in advance, in writing:

  • Breaks, refreshments and technical pauses.
  • Private prayers, personal moments or family rites.
  • Sensitive items, such as legal matters or children, where permission may be needed.
  • Rehearsals or sound checks before the programme starts.
  • Q&A, if audience members have not agreed to be recorded.

It is easier to turn the camera off on the day than to remove something afterwards. See our guide on permissions and responsible publication for who needs to agree.

What affects the quality of the record?

Sound matters most. A full speech with poor sound is hard to use. We check microphones, record from the best source we can, and keep a back-up where we can. The sound planning guides explain what to ask the venue.

Camera cover matters too. A single camera gives one view and can miss a reaction.

More cameras give choice but need more crew, which is part of the quote. Our multi-camera event recording page explains this. Slides or a screen are a separate matter, covered in full session recording with slides or screen capture.

An example programme

For example, a 90-minute community award ceremony might be agreed like this. This is an illustration, not a past job.

  1. Full recording from the chairperson’s opening words to the final photograph.
  2. Each award speech kept as its own file, named by recipient.
  3. The tea break excluded.
  4. The prayer kept, with the family’s agreement.
  5. Sound from the venue system plus a separate recorder at the lectern.

Write the same kind of list for your event in the video deliverables specification sheet.

What we confirm for your event

  • Where the recording starts and ends.
  • Whether cameras switch, or it is one fixed view.
  • How sound is recorded, and the back-up.
  • Which parts are left out, and who agreed.
  • Whether it is one file or several, and how they are named.

Send us your programme and we write these into the quote for our full ceremony and speech recording service, as part of your event videography. The length of the programme and the number of cameras move the quote: see pricing.

Send us the order of the programme and tell us which segments must be complete. We will write what is included, how cameras switch and what is left out into your quote.

Questions people ask

Does full mean there are no edits at all?
Not quite. A full recording is usually a finished video with camera angles switched and sound balanced. What it does not do is shorten or reorder the content. If you want a single unbroken camera view and no switching, say so and we will note it.
Where does a full recording start and stop?
That is agreed in advance. For example, it can start when the first person walks in and end when the final blessing finishes. Tell us the moments that mark the start and end in your programme, and we will write them in the quote.
Can we leave out a part, such as a break or a private prayer?
Yes. Excluded segments are agreed beforehand, such as breaks, rehearsals, private moments or sensitive items. It is easier to switch the camera off on the day than to remove material later, so tell us early.
What if the microphone fails during a speech?
We record sound from more than one source where we can, so one failure need not ruin a speech. We also check microphones before the programme starts. If the venue system fails, we tell you what was captured and what was not.
Do we get the full recording as one file?
It depends on length and use. Some organisers want one file, others want a file for each speech or session. Agree the split in the brief, with names for each file, and we will confirm what is possible for your event.
