In short
- Checks every timecode and rejects a range that ends before it starts.
- Groups comments by video version and sorts them by time.
- A comment keeps the version you typed when later versions are added.
- The video is never uploaded and nothing is stored. Copy or download the table.
This builder turns your notes on a video draft into a clean table. Each row has a timecode, what you see or hear, the change you want, a priority and who asked. The tool checks the timecodes, groups the rows by video version and gives you text to copy or a file to download.
What is it for?
Notes such as “the logo is late somewhere in the middle” cost an editor time. A timecode and a clear request do not. The builder also keeps each comment tied to the version it was written for, so feedback on a first draft is not confused with feedback on the next one.
How do I use it?
- Optionally enter the video length, such as 03:20. Times after it are flagged.
- For each comment, type the version label, for example v1.
- Type the timecode, such as 00:35, or a range, such as 00:35-00:40.
- Describe the issue and the change you want, choose a priority and name the reviewer.
- When a new draft arrives, press the button to add a row for a new version and keep going. Earlier comments stay where they are.
How do I read the result?
Each version has its own table, with rows sorted by time. A summary at the top counts comments by priority. A row is flagged if it has no requested change, falls after the end of the video, looks like a duplicate, or overlaps an earlier range in the same version.
Rows with an invalid time are left out and listed in a warning box with the reason, so nothing disappears silently. A range such as 00:40-00:35 is rejected because it ends before it starts, and the box says to swap the times.
What are the assumptions and limits?
- Times are read as minutes:seconds, or hours:minutes:seconds.
- The video is not uploaded, played or stored. The tool does not check the timecodes against the real video.
- The table does not decide whether a change falls within your agreement. The review and revision planner helps sort that out.
- Nothing is saved when you leave the page. Copy or download the table first.
A worked example
This is an illustrative example. In version v1 you enter 00:10 “name misspelt” with the fix, and 00:50 “logo appears late” with the fix.
You then try 00:40-00:35 for another comment. The tool rejects that row and tells you the range ends before it starts. You correct it to 00:35-00:40 and it joins the v1 table in time order.
When draft v2 arrives, you add a row labelled v2 at 00:20. The v1 table is unchanged and the new row sits under v2. The copied text lists v1 first, then v2, each with its own comments.
Where to go next
The guide to giving useful feedback on a video draft covers what makes a comment easy to act on.
For several reviewers, consolidating feedback from several stakeholders explains how to merge notes first. The event videography page describes what we film.
If you have a feedback list and are unsure how it fits your review rounds, send it with the video version it refers to. We will say what we would need to confirm about the round and the scope.
