In short
- Ayer Keroh has the Melaka International Trade Centre, a convention and exhibition venue.
- Clear speech on video depends on a clean audio feed from the venue.
- Exhibition halls are noisy, so plan interviews away from the floor.
- Ask for load-in times and filming rules in writing.
For most events in Ayer Keroh, the filming questions are about the room: who controls the sound, when we can enter, and where the cameras can stand. Settle these with the venue first.
What kind of place is Ayer Keroh?
Ayer Keroh is where Melaka’s convention, exhibition and leisure venues cluster, beside the North-South Expressway exit of the same name. The Melaka International Trade Centre has an exhibition hall of 13,090 square metres. The state government complex, Seri Negeri, is also here.
Not every event is a conference. The area also has Melaka Zoo, the botanical garden, Mini Malaysia and Ayer Keroh Lake, which suit family days, school trips and company outings. For heritage-street events, see Melaka City.
What changes inside an exhibition hall?
A large exhibition hall is noisy, and booths play their own music and video. Speech recorded near the floor can be hard to follow. Ask the organiser which areas are quiet, and plan interviews there. Our guide to filming in a noisy exhibition hall explains the options.
Check three more things with the organiser: when exhibitors can set up, where the stage is, and whether cameras may enter booths. If sessions run in several rooms, read about filming in a convention centre with multiple halls.
What decides the quality of a conference video?
Sound first. If a speaker is hard to hear, the recording is hard to hear too.
- Sound feed. Ask whether the venue’s mixer can give a clean audio output. Our sound planning guide explains why.
- Camera positions. Ask where the crew may stand without blocking guests or exits.
- Lighting. Ask whether stage lighting can be set before the session starts.
- Screens. If you want slides in the video, tell us how they will be shown.
The event audio brief builder puts these in one place.
What should I ask the venue?
- What are the earliest load-in and latest finish times?
- Where can the crew unload and park?
- Are there filming or recording rules for this hall or hotel?
- Who is the technical contact for sound and lighting?
- Can we visit the hall before the day?
The venue filming questions checklist has a longer list. For multi-room programmes, see our conference videography service.
Which outputs suit a conference?
Many organisers want a short highlight film for sharing, plus full recordings of keynotes and panels, and sometimes speaker interviews. Decide this before you ask for a quote, because it changes crew size and editing time. The event video brief builder helps.
How does an enquiry for Ayer Keroh work?
Send the venue name, date, programme and outputs. An enquiry does not reserve your date. See also event videography in Melaka and our event videography service.
Send us the venue, the date and what you want to keep from the day. We confirm the crew and what to ask the venue about sound and access.
