In short
- Questions are ordered by what you have left undecided.
- Questions your brief already answers are left out, and you can put them back.
- Extras such as drone or a cinematic style appear only if you asked for them.
- Every question has space for the supplier's written answer.
This tool turns what you know and what you are unsure about into a short list of questions for a videographer. The most useful questions come first, and you get space to write down each answer.
What is it for?
First conversations with a supplier often drift to style and price. The questions that protect you are plainer: what will be recorded, what will you receive, and what happens if something goes wrong. The tool puts those first when they matter to your event.
How do I use it?
- Add the event, the date and the date you need the finished video, if you know them.
- Tick the outputs you want. Leave them blank if you are not sure.
- Tick anything still undecided, and anything private or confidential.
- Read the questions from the top. Ask the supplier, then type their answer in the box.
- If your brief already answers a question, tick Already answered in my brief to remove it.
How do I read the result?
Questions are grouped as ask first, ask next and if time allows. Under each question a short note says why it is there, such as “You have not chosen outputs yet”. A red message appears if your deadline is before your event date.
What are the assumptions and limits?
- The order follows what you left undecided. It is a guide, not a ranking of suppliers.
- Nothing here says what any supplier offers, charges or has free. Only their written answers count.
- Extras such as drone, livestream or same-day editing are asked about only if you ticked them.
- Nothing is saved or sent unless you choose to copy it or open WhatsApp.
A worked example
This is an illustrative example. A community association wants a complete record of its annual dinner, with nothing else. They tick only the archive output and add the date.
The first group, ask first, covers whether the whole event and each speech will be recorded without gaps, what they receive and how, and the backup if a card fails. Drone and highlight-style questions do not appear, because they were not requested.
Where to go next
Before you speak to anyone, the guide on what to decide before asking for a quote helps with the basics. If you are weighing a full record against edited films, read recording for an archive or editing for promotion. When written quotes arrive, use the videography quote comparison worksheet and the guide to comparing two quotations fairly. Our event videography service page explains how we work.
Take the list into any conversation, ours included. If you would like us to answer the high-priority ones for your event, send the list and tell us what is still undecided.
