In short
- Venues are often in villages away from the town, so a map pin matters.
- Count the whole day: setup, the first moment that matters and the real finish.
- Flood warnings in December 2025 named Tanah Merah areas, so ask about road access in the year-end rains.
- Ask the venue about power and a wet-weather plan before the day.
Tanah Merah is an inland district along the Kelantan River, and many events here are held in villages away from the town centre. The main decisions are how many hours of coverage you need once setup and a realistic finish are counted, and whether the road to the venue floods.
How do you describe a village venue?
Tell us where your venue sits and which town or main road you leave from. A village hall can be a longer journey than the map suggests, which is why we ask for an address or a map pin. Tanah Merah lies south of Pasir Mas, so a trip that also takes in Pasir Mas needs its own plan.
Do the year-end rains cut off roads and halls?
Flood warnings issued in December 2025 for the Kelantan and Golok river basins named Tanah Merah areas, including Bandar Tanah Merah, Kampung Belimbing, Taman Kiara and Kampung Kerilla. Whether your venue is on low ground is for your host or the local authorities to tell you.
- Ask the host whether the venue and the road to it have flooded before.
- Check the national flood portal in the days before your date.
- Plan an earlier setup and a covered or indoor fallback.
- Decide which moments matter most if the programme is shortened.
Our weather planning guide lists what to ask.
What events are common here?
Village weddings and kenduri (feasts) are common, and so are school and college events. For a school event, ask who approves filming and which students may appear. See our school event videography page.
How should you plan coverage hours?
Count the whole day, not only the event. A useful way to do it:
- Write the start time of the first thing that matters, such as the arrival of the bride or the opening prayer.
- Add setup time before it, so sound is tested before guests arrive.
- Add the real finish time, including the last speeches and photos.
- Tell us the venue, and we confirm the travel and whether the crew needs a rest before a late finish.
The overtime calculator helps you test different finish times. Our guide to agreeing a realistic delivery schedule covers the editing side, and travel and accommodation costs for outstation filming covers the cost side.
What should you ask the venue?
A venue far from a town makes a last-minute replacement harder, so settle these before the day:
- Is there power at the venue?
- Where can the crew park and unload?
- Is there shade or a covered area?
- Is the crowd big enough to need a second camera operator?
How does an enquiry for Tanah Merah work?
Send the date, the venue and your expected finish, and we confirm the crew and travel. You can write the details in an event video brief.
The wider picture is on the Kelantan page, and our event videography service page covers the rest. An enquiry does not reserve a date. For a mountain or forest venue further south, see Gua Musang.
Send us the date, the venue and your expected finish, and we will plan how many hours of coverage the whole day needs.
