Filming a Shah Alam hall, hotel or corporate event

Your Shah Alam venue has its own rules, and you want them known early.

Share your date and area, and we will suggest coverage and confirm what is possible.

In short

  • Shah Alam is the state capital of Selangor, and its addresses are written by Seksyen.
  • Convention halls, campuses, mosques and stadium grounds each have their own management.
  • Several sessions in one venue need a plan for which room is filmed when.
  • Ask for a separate audio feed from the hall's sound system.

Events in Shah Alam range from corporate meetings in a convention centre to campus events and large public gatherings, and each kind of place has its own manager to ask.

How does the Seksyen address work?

Shah Alam is divided into numbered sections called Seksyen. The Shah Alam Convention Centre, for example, gives its address as Jalan Perbadanan, Seksyen 14. When you enquire, write the venue, the hall and the Seksyen. It tells us where the crew is going and avoids mixing up two venues with similar road names.

Who manages the places events use?

  • The convention centre. It is wholly owned by PKNS, the state development corporation. Ask its events team about filming approval, loading and parking.
  • Campuses. Universiti Teknologi MARA is in Shah Alam, so graduation and campus events are common. See convocation videography.
  • Mosque and stadium grounds. Places such as the Blue Mosque and Stadium Shah Alam draw large crowds. Each has its own management, so ask about dress, prayer times, camera areas and access.
  • Hotels and halls for dinners, weddings and conferences.

As the state capital, Shah Alam also hosts official and community functions. If yours is one of them, ask the organiser which agency approves filming and whether guests of honour have a set arrival and photo sequence the crew should follow.

What should you settle with the venue?

Filming approval. Ask whether commercial filming needs notice or a form, and how early.

Sound. Ask for a separate audio feed and who operates it. Our sound guide explains why.

Several sessions. A conference may run plenary, breakout and dinner in different rooms. Send the programme and mark overlaps. Conference videography explains how coverage is split, and multi-camera recording covers larger setups.

A planning checklist

  1. Write the venue name, hall and Seksyen.
  2. Ask the venue about filming approval, loading and parking.
  3. Share the programme and mark overlapping sessions.
  4. Ask about the audio feed and, for streaming, the network.
  5. Decide the films: highlight, full recordings, speaker clips.
  6. Say which sessions are private.
  7. Name one contact at the venue we can reach on the day if the programme changes.

The venue filming questions checklist turns this into a form for the venue. For nearby settings see Petaling Jaya and Klang, the Selangor page, or build a brief with the event video brief builder.

Tell us the venue, the Seksyen, the date and what you want filmed, and we confirm the crew and travel for Shah Alam.

Questions people ask

Why do you ask which Seksyen the Shah Alam venue is in?
Shah Alam addresses use numbered Seksyen, for example the Shah Alam Convention Centre in Seksyen 14, and a road name alone can mislead. The Seksyen tells the crew exactly where to arrive and helps plan loading.
Who do I ask about filming at the Shah Alam Convention Centre?
The centre's own events team. It is owned by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS, the Selangor state development corporation). Ask about filming approval, loading times and camera positions, then send us the answers.
Can the crew film at a mosque or stadium in Shah Alam?
Ask the management of that place first. A mosque may have expectations about dress, prayer times and where cameras may go, and a stadium has its own access and security. Share what they say and we plan around it.
Can the venue's sound system feed your recording?
Often, but it is not automatic. Ask whether the hall has a separate audio output and who runs it. A direct feed usually gives clearer speech than a microphone placed in the room.
