In short
- Ampang Jaya is a municipal area in Selangor on the edge of Kuala Lumpur.
- Ampang appears in addresses on both sides of the boundary, so the postcode and council matter.
- Hall, stadium, zoo and home events each have different contacts to ask.
- Confirm parking, loading and sound with the venue once the area is clear.
Ampang Jaya is a municipal area in Selangor on the edge of Kuala Lumpur. The first job is to confirm which side of the boundary your venue is on.
Why is the Ampang address worth checking?
Ampang is used on both sides of the line. The Ampang Jaya council’s own office, Menara MPAJ on Jalan Pandan Utama in Pandan Indah, carries a postal address that ends in “Selangor 55100 Kuala Lumpur”. A venue can say Ampang and still be in the city, and the reverse.
Check the postcode and the council named on any venue letter or permit, and ask the venue if unsure. Council notices also name Pandan Perdana, Taman Melawati in Hulu Kelang, Taman Cahaya and Kampung Baru Ampang, so those names help confirm the area. If your venue is in the city, our Kuala Lumpur page applies.
What settings are common here?
- Zoo-side functions. Zoo Negara sits in Hulu Kelang with a postal address in Ampang, Selangor, and lists a theatre near its main lake plus other function spaces. Ask its events team about crew entry, visitor hours and areas near animals.
- Council halls and stadium. The council says dewan and a stadium can be booked online, and Stadium MPAJ is in Pandan Perdana. Booking a council space means asking the council for its filming terms.
- Homes and community halls for weddings, receptions and birthdays. See our family milestone guide.
What should you settle once the area is clear?
Arrival. Give us the call time and when guests arrive. Ask the family or venue about road and parking limits on the day.
Access. Ask where the crew can park and unload, and whether the hall or zoo needs approval for outside crews. The venues guide lists the questions.
Sound. Vows, speeches and prayers record best from the hall’s sound system or a close microphone. See the sound guide.
A planning checklist
- Write the full address and postcode.
- Confirm the council and area with the venue.
- Share the run of the day and mark key moments, such as the akad or the cake cutting.
- Ask about parking, loading, the sound system and the earliest access time.
- Choose the films: highlight, full recording, clips.
- Tell us what should stay private, including guests who prefer not to be filmed.
Nearby pages: Kajang and the Selangor page. To draft your brief, use the event video brief builder, or read about our event videography service.
Send us the full venue address, the date and what you want filmed, and we check the area with you and confirm the crew and travel.
