In short
- Ferry times at Kuala Perlis have been changed to follow the water level, so check the current schedule.
- Open waterfronts bring wind, boat noise and sudden rain that affect sound and shots.
- Check site permission and shelter with the organiser or the site owner.
- A Langkawi event has its own page and its own planning.
Kuala Perlis is the Perlis ferry terminal for Langkawi, and the water decides the day. Ferry times here follow the water level, so a time-critical event needs a plan B.
What do reports say about ferry times?
Shallow water in the Kuala Perlis channel has disrupted sailings before. In February 2022, low water cancelled Langkawi to Kuala Perlis trips for about four days, and emergency dredging followed. In August 2024, the operator changed 52 trips because the channel had become shallow again, and raised the minimum water depth for ferries from 1.2 to 1.4 metres. Reports describe silting problems lasting more than ten years.
If guests, crew or equipment must cross on a set day, check the current schedule with the operator, keep a buffer, and tell us your fallback. We build the filming plan around the real crossing times.
Which part of the waterfront will you use?
Family gatherings, company outings and groups travelling to or from Langkawi all use the waterfront. Ask which part of the waterfront is used and whether a fishing-town market or other event shares the area on your date.
What changes for filming at the waterfront?
- Wind and noise. Open water carries wind, boat engines and announcements. Speeches need close microphones or a clean audio feed. See outdoor event audio and wind.
- Rain and sun. Afternoon rain and strong sun change the shots and put the equipment at risk. Ask where guests can shelter, and plan an indoor option. The weather and venue-change filming plan helps.
- Site permission. A terminal or public waterfront may have its own rules. Ask the organiser or the site owner, and tell us the answer.
What if the event continues in Langkawi?
Add the crossing to the plan: when guests go, when the equipment goes, and the fallback if a sailing changes. See event videography in Langkawi and our guide to island events with limited transport windows.
What do we confirm for your Kuala Perlis event?

- The wet-weather alternative.
Our venue filming questions checklist helps you ask these.
How does an enquiry for Kuala Perlis work?
Send us the site, date and the films you want, and we confirm the crew and explain travel in the quote. An enquiry does not reserve the date. See also event videography in Perlis and the outstation filming budget worksheet.
Tell us the exact site at Kuala Perlis, the date and whether anyone travels by ferry, and we confirm the crew and travel.
