In short
- The four main towns are close together but have different settings: state offices, a royal town, a ferry port and a border.
- Rainfall is lowest around February and highest around October and November.
- The Harumanis mango season, April to June, brings large public events.
- Quotes are built from your scope, not from a fixed Perlis package.
Perlis is Malaysia’s smallest state, so the towns are close together. What changes between them is the setting, and the setting decides how we film.
Which setting is your event in?
| Setting | Typical events | Key question | Place page |
|---|---|---|---|
| State capital | Government and school events, weddings, public festivals | Who is the organiser, and who approves cameras? | Kangar |
| Royal town | Palace-linked occasions, campus events, family events | Who gives permission to record at the site? | Arau |
| Ferry port | Waterfront gatherings, groups going to Langkawi | What is the wet-weather and ferry-timing plan? | Kuala Perlis |
| Border town | Family, community and campus events | What access rules apply near the checkpoint? | Padang Besar |
How does the crew reach Perlis?
The route depends on where the crew comes from. By road, you enter Perlis from Kedah.
KTM’s ETS trains stop at Arau and Padang Besar, and Kangar’s Bukit Lagi terminal is the hub for long-distance buses. Ferries from Langkawi arrive at Kuala Perlis.
For a morning ceremony, we plan the arrival with a margin, and tell you early if the crew should come the day before. Venues are often a short hop apart, so one crew can sometimes cover more than one stop in a day. We confirm this once we see the venues and the run sheet.
When is the best time of year?
Rainfall figures for Kangar are lowest around February and highest around October and November. Tell us the date and we plan a wet-weather option for any outdoor part. Our guide to weather planning for an event videography booking explains what to settle.
April to June is the Harumanis mango season. In April 2026 the state held Perlis Agrofest, a three-day public festival at Sungai Batu Pahat in Kangar, and the organisers expected more than 100,000 visitors. If your event falls in a festival week, ask your venue about road closures and parking early.
What if the event is near the border or in Langkawi?
A Padang Besar event is filmed at a Malaysian venue, and we plan around that venue’s rules. If any part of your day is on the Thai side, tell us early so we can ask the right questions first. Drones need approval before the day: CAAM asks for standard applications at least 14 working days ahead, so see our drone planning guide.
If guests cross to Langkawi, read event videography in Langkawi and the guide on island events with limited transport windows. For the mainland next door, see Kedah and Alor Setar.
What we confirm for your event
- The town, the exact venue and the date.
- The programme in order, with times.
- Who approves filming at the venue.
- Whether the venue’s sound system gives us a clean audio feed. See the event audio guide.
- The wet-weather plan.
- The languages used in speeches, so we plan captions or subtitles if you need them.
Write them up with the video brief builder and send it with your enquiry for event videography. To see what moves the quote, use the outstation filming budget worksheet.
Tell us the town, the venue and the date, and we confirm the crew and travel for Perlis.
