Press conference

Press conference videography

Your team needs an accurate record of what was said, who asked what, and how it was answered.

Share your date and area, and we will suggest coverage and confirm what is possible.

In short

  • The first output is a complete, uncut record of the statements and the question-and-answer.
  • Clear audio of both the speaker and the person asking is planned, not left to chance.
  • Short clips are cut only after your communications team has reviewed the full record.
  • Livestream, same-day clips and captions can be arranged, and we confirm each against your date.

A press conference is short, and what is said in it matters. We record the statements, the questions and the way they were answered, so your communications team has an accurate record and can decide what to publish.

What does press conference videography cover?

We plan around the format of your session, for example:

  • The statement: the speaker or panel, recorded in full, with the backdrop and any slides visible.
  • The questions: both the journalist asking and the speaker answering, with audio planned for each.
  • The room: media seating, the line of cameras and the atmosphere, if your team wants context shots.
  • After the session: one-to-one interviews or doorstop questions, if you arrange them. See event interview filming.
  • Live viewers: livestream coverage for those who cannot be in the room.

Which outputs does a communications team usually need?

Output What it is Best for
Full conference recording Statements and question-and-answer from start to finish, without cuts Checking exactly what was said
Statement only The prepared remarks as one complete file Posting the official statement
Clean question-and-answer Each question and answer kept complete, labelled in order Reviewing how issues were handled
Short clips Selected moments with captions Website and social media, after approval
Same-day clips Quick edits for the same day Time-sensitive updates. On request

If you need clips with subtitles, see captions and subtitles and same-day edits.

How do we capture questions properly?

Questions are where press conference audio most often fails. A journalist speaks from their seat, the room is full, and the question is lost. We agree one approach beforehand:

  1. A roving microphone passed to each reporter.
  2. A host who repeats each question into the main microphone.
  3. A feed from the venue’s sound system, if it covers the floor.

Our guide to planning intelligible event audio explains the options. Whichever you choose, we also agree a backup recording of the room sound.

What do we agree before the day?

  • Speakers and order: names, roles, and where each will stand or sit.
  • Question-and-answer rules: who moderates, how questions are chosen and whether the session is recorded in full.
  • Embargoes and approvals: which footage can be shared immediately and which waits for sign-off. The video approvals planner helps list who approves what.
  • Venue arrangements: camera positions, power and any media rules. Convention venues such as KL Convention Centre ask for advance notice of commercial filming, so ask your venue early.
  • Space for other media: if other camera crews will attend, agree where everyone stands, so no one blocks the speaker.

You can put all of this into our event video brief builder and send it to us.

How do we work on the day?

We agree an arrival time that leaves room to test the sound and agree camera positions with your team. One camera usually holds the speaker, and a second camera, if you need it, covers the questioner and the room. See multi-camera recording for larger rooms. We keep clear of the media line and the stage, and we keep a clean copy of the full session from the first minute.

We also note the speakers’ names and the order of questions as they happen, so your team can label the record afterwards.

For a press conference, the quote moves with the number of speakers and cameras, any interviews or live element, and the venue and travel. See how pricing works, or corporate event videography for wider coverage.

Share the date, venue, the speakers and how many media are expected. We will suggest the camera and sound plan, and the outputs your communications team will need afterwards.

Questions people ask

Do you provide the full recording as well as short clips?
Yes. We recommend the full, uncut recording as the main output, because it is the version your team can check against. Short clips for social media or the website are cut from it after your communications team has approved the wording and sequence.
How do you capture questions from journalists clearly?
Reporters often ask from their seats without a microphone, which makes questions hard to hear. We agree beforehand whether a roving microphone, a host who repeats the question, or a feed from the venue's sound system will be used, and plan our recording around it.
Can the conference be streamed live?
Yes. It depends on the venue's internet connection and where your audience watches. For a livestream we plan a backup recording too, in case the connection drops.
Do you film interviews after the press conference?
If your team arranges one-to-one interviews or doorstep questions after the main session, we can film them as part of the plan. Tell us the order and who is speaking, so the crew is ready and the audio is clean.
Can you deliver clips quickly after the event?
A same-day or next-morning edit can be arranged. The timing depends on what is being cut, the approval step and file transfer. Share your deadline early and we tell you whether it is possible.
