In short
- Kulim Hi-Tech Park is run by a state-owned developer, and company sites inside set their own entry rules.
- A public hall is arranged with the hall. A company site is arranged with the company.
- Ask early about passes, safety induction and areas that stay off camera.
- Say where the video will be shown, such as internally, on social media or to customers.
Kulim is a district in Kedah beside Penang. A hall in town and a company site inside the Hi-Tech Park are different jobs.
What is Kulim Hi-Tech Park?
Kulim Hi-Tech Park was established in 1996, with Intel as its first tenant, according to MIDA, Malaysia’s investment agency. The developer is Kulim Technology Park Corp, wholly owned by the Kedah State Development Corporation. The park is made of company premises, not public venues.
For an event, that means the company, and sometimes park management, is your first contact. A company dinner, family day or recognition night may be held on its own grounds or in a hall nearby.
What does a controlled site change?
Entry. The crew may need a pass, an ID check, a safety induction or an escort. Ask how long it takes, because it comes out of set-up time. Our guide to filming at an industrial or controlled-access site explains the usual steps.
Who says yes. Approval for outside crews may sit with a different team from the one planning the event. Find out who signs off the crew and who signs off the finished video.
What may appear on screen. Production lines, product displays and internal figures may need to stay off camera. See choosing a supplier for confidential corporate events.
Shift patterns. Events for production staff can start at odd hours around shift changes. Give us the run sheet, and the run-sheet filming planner turns it into coverage blocks.
What if the event is a family or community gathering?
Planning is simpler. Ask the hall about sound, power and camera positions, and tell us the order of the day. Speeches in Kulim may switch between Malay, Mandarin and English, which affects microphone placement.
What do we confirm for your event?
- Public venue or company-controlled premises.
- The person who approves the crew and the person who approves the finished video.
- Passes, induction and ID checks, and how long they take.
- Areas, equipment or people that must not be filmed.
- Where the video will be shown.
- A plan if the programme moves indoors.
Send the details through the event video brief builder. For work events, see corporate event videography. For an event across the border in Penang, see the Penang page. For another Kedah town, see Sungai Petani.
Tell us the venue, the date and who approves filming there. We confirm the crew and which access steps apply.
