In short
- Raub is a district in Pahang, on the road between Bentong and Kuala Lipis.
- The old town and the forest and farm sites around it need very different filming plans.
- At a retreat site, ask about power, shelter, phone signal and rooms for the crew.
- Plan an indoor backup for outdoor sessions.
In Raub, the exact site decides the plan. Filming in the old town is a different job from filming at a retreat on a hill road or near a waterfall.
Where Raub events happen
Raub is known for gold mining. The Bukit Koman area was the mining centre, and the council’s own field is said to be where gold was first found. The old centre is a small area of shophouses, and Jalan Lipis has Hindu, Chinese, Christian and Sikh places of worship in a row.
Outside town, Lata Jarum waterfall, Jeram Besu for white-water rafting and the hill road to Bukit Fraser through Tras draw visitors. Companies, schools and families plan outings and gatherings here, often away from a ballroom.
A local difference: the venue may be a trail, not a hall
A hotel hall has a ceiling, a stage and a power point. A Raub outing may have a river bank, a forest path or a farm clearing instead.
- Power. Ask where the nearest mains point is and whether a generator is planned. Without power, batteries limit how long we film.
- Moving groups. Rafting, trails and team games spread people out. One camera position cannot cover them, so list the activities and where each happens.
- Cover and weather. Name a covered space for speeches and the meal, in case of rain.
- Sound. Water and wind drown speech. Tell us when the speeches happen so we can plan microphones.
Our corporate retreat and team-building videography page explains what we film. The weather planning guide helps you set a backup.
Checklist for a Raub event
- Name the exact site, not just “Raub”.
- Ask the site about power points, covered areas, phone signal and Wi-Fi.
- Ask whether rooms are available for the crew, and who pays for them.
- List the activities with start times and places.
- Decide which moments need a full recording and which only need a short highlight.
- Ask whether the site has a fixed closing time, so we know how late filming can run.
If your trip passes through the next district, see event videography in Bentong. For a city venue, see Kuantan. The outstation filming budget worksheet lists the travel and stay items to ask about.
