In short
- Dungun has four settings: beachfront resorts, Kuala Dungun, inland sites and Pulau Tenggol.
- Boats to Pulau Tenggol leave from the Kuala Dungun jetty, and island resorts close for the monsoon.
- At a beach event, protect the sound first: wind and surf drown speeches.
- Rantau Abang's turtle centre sits beside the coast road; ask it what filming it allows.
Event videography in Dungun depends on which Dungun you mean: a beachfront resort, the river town of Kuala Dungun, the inland Bukit Besi area or Pulau Tenggol offshore.

Beachfront resorts
Dungun’s coast has beachfront resorts, and Kuala Dungun is about one hour by road from Kuala Terengganu. Ask your resort for its events team, its wet-weather options and its rules on outside filming.
Wind and surf can drown speeches on a beach. Ask for a working PA (sound system), decide who speaks into which microphone and read outdoor event audio and wind before you place the stage.
Pulau Tenggol, from the Kuala Dungun jetty
Guests and gear for Tenggol go from the Kuala Dungun jetty. The island is about 25 km offshore, around 50 minutes by boat, with beachfront cabanas and resort meals but no public restaurants or shops. Moving between its resorts needs a boat.
That shapes the shoot. Cases and batteries travel in the boat with the guests, and a late boat can cost a sunset session. Ask your resort which boat it uses, the baggage limit and whether it has room for tripods and cases.
Island resorts here close for the monsoon, from about October to February. Confirm your resort is open on your date.
Rantau Abang and turtle events
Rantau Abang’s turtle information centre stands beside the coast road, and visitors can see hatchlings on the beach across the road. A school trip, company outing or family visit with a hatchling release is a daylight beach shoot led by the centre’s staff, so the centre sets the pace.
Opening hours differ between sources, so call the centre before you fix a schedule. Ask what filming it allows and who approves what you share afterwards.
What changes in the wet season?
The monsoon months, October to February or March, bring rough seas and cancelled boats. For any outdoor event then, settle three things:
- Where the covered area is, and whether it fits guests and stage.
- Who decides to move, and by what time.
- Which moments must be recorded in any weather.
The weather and venue-change plan lists the decisions.
Company and community events
Industrial and controlled-access sites have their own induction and recording approvals. See filming at an industrial or controlled-access site and the neighbouring Kemaman page.
Enquiring
Send the venue, date and what you want filmed, or fill in the event video brief builder. We confirm the crew and the travel. For the wider state, see the Terengganu page; Kuala Terengganu is the nearest city, and our event videography service covers what we film.
Tell us the venue and date in Dungun, and whether the event is indoors or outdoors. We confirm the crew and the travel involved.
