Events on the Setiu Wetlands
The wetlands are a state park. A tourism page describes a lagoon about 14 km long where three river basins meet, with mangroves, mudflats and sand beaches. Guided boat tours and kayaking are the usual ways in, so a group trip or retreat built around a boat is a different shoot from a hall event.
Before the day, ask the operator three things: how many passengers the boat takes, where a camera and tripod can go, and whether the boat can stop for a speech. Ask the operator or park management whether filming or a drone needs approval. A travel blog calls March to October the better season.
Getting a crew here
A travel blog puts the wetlands about 70 km from Kuala Terengganu, around an hour by road on the coast. With dawn boat departures or a night programme, plan a stay close to the venue. Terrapuri Heritage Village at Kampung Mangkuk lists van transfers to the airport and island jetties; ask it whether it hosts events or groups.
